Description

How did the project start?

The customer's deck was collapsing at the entrance to his rear door. The property is beachfront, and the original galvanized nails had corroded, causing the joists to detach from the structure.

What were the challenges you faced?

The site access was difficult. Our only access to the deck was by way of the deck walkway on the side of the house. This made movement of material challenging. Another challenge was the heavy hot tub. We had to create a pulley system to lift the original hot tub up and out.

How did you tackle the challenges?

We tackled the confined site access by an assembly line to move the demoed material up front and the new deck board material to the back

What problem did the client want to solve with the project?

The clients wanted safe access to his back deck to be able to enjoy the waterfront view.

How did you solve the problem?

We shored up his existing frame with stainless steel joist hangers and installed new composite decking and handrails.
